Second round action in Munich today, with cold and rainy conditions at 49°F that could make things uncomfortable for everyone on court. We've got three matches to get through, including a couple that are genuinely hard to call. So who comes through?
BMW Open Predictions
Alexander Zverev vs Gabriel Diallo
Head-to-head: Zverev 1-0 Diallo
Zverev is the hometown hero here in Munich and one of the best clay players in the world right now, and Diallo simply doesn't have the game to test him on this surface. The Canadian is a big server with a huge wingspan, but on slow clay against someone who returns as well as Zverev, that serve advantage shrinks considerably.
Zverev wins this comfortably.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
Arthur Rinderknech vs Joao Fonseca
Head-to-head: Rinderknech 0-1 Fonseca
Fonseca already has a win over Rinderknech in their only previous meeting, and the young Brazilian has looked impressive in flashes this season. Rinderknech is a streaky player who can put together big moments on any surface, and the cold, heavy conditions today might actually suit his flat ball-striking more than Fonseca's game.
That said, Fonseca's ceiling feels higher right now and I think he finds a way through in a tight three-setter, all things considered.
Prediction: Fonseca in 3
Fabian Marozsan vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Head-to-head: Marozsan 0-1 Tsitsipas
This is the match of the day. Tsitsipas has had a rough stretch of form and hasn't looked like his old self on clay for a while now, and Marozsan is the kind of heavy-hitting clay-court grinder who can make life miserable in slow, damp conditions like today's, and playing in Munich also means he has a home crowd behind him, which is no small thing.
Tsitsipas took their only previous meeting, but that feels like a long time ago given where both players are at right now. Marozsan in three.
Prediction: Marozsan in 3
