We've got one semi-final pick from Munich today, with clear skies and a high of 68°F making for good conditions out on the clay. This one's an interesting case, because neither player is exactly a natural on this surface.
BMW Open Predictions
Alex Molcan vs Ben Shelton
Head-to-head: First meeting
Clay is Shelton's weakest surface by a distance, and reaching a semi-final in Munich is genuinely a decent result for him. Molcan is ranked 166 in the world right now, so something has clearly gone wrong for him over the past year or two and whatever form he's riding to get here, it's hard to trust it against a top-10 player with Shelton's serve and firepower.
The slow conditions don't really suit Shelton, and Molcan will look to drag him into long rallies and grind him down. That said, ranked 166 is ranked 166. Shelton should still find a way to get through here, all things considered.
Prediction: Shelton in 3
