We've got the Madrid Open final to look at today, and it's a big one. Sinner against Zverev, clay, and a Masters title on the line. Who takes it?
Madrid Open Predictions
Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev
Head-to-head: Sinner 9-4 Zverev
That 9-4 head-to-head doesn't tell the full story. Zverev has actually been competitive in some of these meetings, but Sinner has won their last three in a row, including a straight-sets dismantling in last year's Australian Open semifinals, which felt like a pretty definitive statement at the time. The trend is pretty clear at this point.
Zverev is a genuine clay-court threat and this is probably his best surface, so he's not just making up the numbers here. The slow Madrid conditions suit his heavy forehand and he's been in great form this week. That said, Sinner has become so good at not panicking in rallies and his ability to redirect pace and find winners on the move is a real problem for someone who relies on grinding opponents down. I think Zverev pushes him to three sets, but Sinner should still find a way to get through here, all things considered.
Prediction: Sinner in 3
