We've got the Stuttgart final to preview today, and it's a good one. Rybakina and Muchova under partially cloudy skies with a real chance of rain at some point, and a title on the line for both players.
WTA Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Predictions
Elena Rybakina vs Karolina Muchova
Head-to-head: Rybakina 1-2 Muchova
That H2H is a bit deceiving, because Muchova genuinely has Rybakina's number in a way that not many players do. Two of those three meetings have gone three sets and Muchova's variety and sliced backhand have repeatedly disrupted the rhythm Rybakina needs to impose her game. On clay especially, Muchova's ability to change pace and construct points differently from most players can be a real problem for a big hitter.
That said, Rybakina has looked sharper this week than Muchova has, and the slow Stuttgart clay, which tends to reward flatter ball-striking more than you might expect, should give her serve and flat ball-striking more time to do damage. Muchova's had a tougher road through the draw and that might show late in a third set. I think Rybakina's power eventually wears her down, but don't be surprised if this one goes the distance.
Prediction: Rybakina in 3
