A few second-round picks from the grass in 's-Hertogenbosch today, and there's at least one match here that looks tighter than the rankings suggest. We've got our predictions below, so let's get into it.
WTA Libema Open Predictions
Barbora Krejcikova vs Elena Gabriela Ruse
Head-to-head: Krejcikova 2-1 Ruse
Krejcikova is a former Wimbledon champion and grass is genuinely her best surface, so this is a good draw for her. Ruse has the H2H win to her name, but that came back in 2021 and Krejcikova has been the better player since. She plays through the ball cleanly on grass and her serve-volley instincts still show up when it matters.
That said, Ruse isn't a pushover and these two have history that makes it interesting. I think Krejcikova gets through, but it'll probably take three sets to do it.
Prediction: Krejcikova in 3
Ajla Tomljanovic vs Dayana Yastremska
Head-to-head: Tomljanovic 0-4 Yastremska
Four wins from four for Yastremska in this matchup, and Tomljanovic has never really solved her. Yastremska's flat ball-striking is well-suited to grass, where she can stay aggressive and avoid getting dragged into extended rallies. Tomljanovic has had injury issues derailing her the last couple of years and she's coming in ranked outside the top 100, so the momentum is firmly with Yastremska here.
Prediction: Yastremska in 3
Daria Snigur vs Robin Montgomery
Head-to-head: First meeting
Montgomery is ranked 484th in the world right now, which tells you most of what you need to know. Snigur is no world-beater but she's a solid top-100 player and this is a very manageable second-round match for her on any surface. Hard to see this being competitive at all. Snigur should still find a way to get through here, though grass can produce weird results so a third set wouldn't be a total shock.
Prediction: Snigur in 3
