A few interesting second-round picks from Berlin today, and honestly there's more intrigue here than you'd expect from a standard second round on grass. We've got our predictions ready, so let's get into it.

WTA Berlin Tennis Open Predictions

Alexandra Eala vs Elena Rybakina

Head-to-head: Eala 0-1 Rybakina

Rybakina is one of the best grass-court players on tour, and her serve alone makes her incredibly difficult to deal with on this surface. Eala is a fascinating story this season and her ranking has jumped considerably, but stepping up against a top-2 player on grass is a different challenge entirely, and that one prior meeting went Rybakina's way without too much drama.

Rybakina should cruise through this one. Eala might nick a set if she finds some rhythm, which is why I'm not calling it in two, but the overall direction of this match feels pretty clear.

Prediction: Rybakina in 3

Madison Keys vs Karolina Muchova

Head-to-head: Keys 2-0 Muchova

Keys holds a perfect record against Muchova, and the power she brings off both wings can disrupt Muchova's creative, touch-heavy game before it ever gets going. That said, grass is a completely different conversation for Muchova, whose variety and net instincts are better suited to this surface than the hard courts where those two meetings likely took place.

Keys hasn't been in the kind of form that makes you feel confident backing her and Muchova in good health on grass is a tricky puzzle for anyone. I think Muchova flips this head-to-head today.

Prediction: Muchova in 3

Linda Noskova vs Diane Parry

Head-to-head: Noskova 2-2 Parry

A genuinely even head-to-head, and Parry has clearly figured something out against Noskova over their four meetings. Noskova's big game can be brilliant and completely maddening in the same set, and on grass her serve and flat groundstrokes should theoretically give her an edge. To make things worse, Parry is a solid mover and patient enough to let Noskova beat herself, and that tactic has worked before.

Parry gets it done in three, all things considered.

Prediction: Parry in 3
