A few second-round picks from the Mallorca Championships today, all on grass and all genuinely hard to call. Which of these do you think goes the distance?

Mallorca Championships Predictions

Luciano Darderi vs Nuno Borges

Head-to-head: Darderi 0-2 Borges

Borges is 2-0 against Darderi and both of those wins came on hard courts, so this grass matchup is a bit of a different conversation. That said, Borges has quietly become one of the better grass-court players outside the top 20, reaching the final here in Mallorca last year, and his flat ball-striking is well suited to the conditions. Darderi is the higher-ranked player but his game has always felt more at home on clay and he hasn't shown enough on grass to feel confident backing him here.

Prediction: Borges in 3

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Fabian Marozsan

Head-to-head: Kecmanovic 6-3 Marozsan

Six wins from nine meetings is a dominant record, and Kecmanovic has clearly figured Marozsan out over the years. Marozsan is a clay specialist at heart and grass takes away most of what makes him dangerous, the heavy topspin and the high bouncing ball just don't translate. Hard to see this being competitive at all. Kecmanovic isn't exactly a grass specialist himself, but he's the steadier player at this level and the H2H advantage is real.

Prediction: Kecmanovic in 3

Ethan Quinn vs Vit Kopriva

Head-to-head: Quinn 3-0 Kopriva

This is the most interesting one on paper. Quinn is 3-0 against Kopriva, but Kopriva is a natural grass-court player and this surface genuinely suits his flat, aggressive game. Quinn is a solid competitor and that head-to-head record is hard to ignore, but all three of those wins came on hard courts, a surface where Quinn's baseline consistency is a bigger factor, and grass could flip the dynamic entirely. I feel like Kopriva's surface advantage is finally the thing that breaks the streak here, all things considered.

Prediction: Kopriva in 3
