A semi-final at the Mallorca Championships to preview today, and it's a genuinely interesting one with two players who don't meet often enough for us to have much to go on.
Mallorca Championships Predictions
Nuno Borges vs Ethan Quinn
Head-to-head: First meeting
Borges has quietly become one of the more reliable grass-court players outside the top 30 or 40, and making a semi-final in Mallorca is no surprise for someone who moves and serves as cleanly as he does on this surface. Quinn's run here has been impressive, and getting to the semis at an ATP 250 grass event as a ranking 63 is no small thing, but this feels like a step up in class.
Borges is the more experienced player on tour, having navigated several tight matches at this level already this season, and has been through more high-pressure moments at this level. That said, Quinn will get his chances, and a tight third set is very much on the cards, but I think Borges has enough variety and composure in the big moments to see this one out, all things considered.
Prediction: Borges in 3
