The Boss Open final is an all-American affair, and we've got our prediction for what should be a great finish to the week on the Stuttgart grass.
Boss Open Predictions
Ben Shelton vs Taylor Fritz
Head-to-head: Shelton leads 2-1
Shelton's serve is basically unplayable on fast grass when he's on and Stuttgart's indoor conditions strip away any of the wind or bounce variation that might otherwise help a returner get into rhythm. Fritz is no slouch on this surface and has had a strong week, but Shelton's big game is genuinely at its best indoors on grass, where rallies are short and his first-strike tennis does most of the damage before anyone has time to reset.
That said, Fritz won their most recent meeting and he's been consistent enough this week that a third set is very much on the table. I think Shelton's serve carries him through the tight moments though, and two sets out of three on a surface this fast tends to favor whoever can hold most comfortably. That's Shelton, all things considered.
Prediction: Shelton in 3
