One semi-final pick from Stuttgart today, and it's a genuinely interesting one. Bublik and Fritz have played each other seven times already, and there's very little separating them on paper.
Boss Open Predictions
Alexander Bublik vs Taylor Fritz
Head-to-head: Bublik 4-3 Fritz
Bublik leads the H2H and that edge actually comes with context, because two of his wins have come on fast surfaces where his serve does the most damage. Grass is comfortably his best surface and the aggressive, unpredictable way he plays fits perfectly here, big serves, drop shots, constant variation that makes it hard for opponents to settle into a rhythm. Fritz is a good grass player himself and has the serve to hang with anyone, but he's never really broken through at a grass event the way you'd expect from someone his size and ranking.
Fritz has been solid this week but Bublik on grass in a semi-final feels like his territory. That said, I think the third set decides it, but Bublik's serve and the slight H2H edge, which has held up across a decent range of conditions, are enough to get him through, all things considered.
Prediction: Bublik in 3
