We've got the Barcelona final to close out the week, with Arthur Fils and Andrey Rublev meeting under partially cloudy skies and a pleasant 18°C on the Pista Rafa Nadal. Should be a great one to watch.
Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell Predictions
Andrey Rublev vs Arthur Fils
Head-to-head: Rublev 1-1 Fils
The head-to-head is perfectly balanced but recent form tells a clearer story. Rublev's been one of the more inconsistent top players on tour this year, and while he's clearly found something this week in Barcelona, Fils has been on a different level lately. The young Frenchman plays clay like he was born on it, staying aggressive in long rallies without ever panicking and the slow conditions here suit that brand of tennis perfectly.
Rublev will make it uncomfortable at times, he always does, and his heavy topspin, which has been a real problem for flatter hitters all week, can disrupt rhythm on this surface. That said, Fils is the better mover right now and I feel like that gap in legs and energy will show up in the third set if it gets that far. This is the biggest final of Fils' career and he looks ready for it.
Prediction: Fils in 3
