One semi-final to preview from the WTA Paris Masters today, and it's a genuinely interesting one between two players who don't often find themselves at this stage of a clay tournament.
WTA Paris Masters Predictions
Diane Parry vs Alina Charaeva
Head-to-head: Parry 1-0 Charaeva
Parry holds the H2H lead and she'll have the crowd behind her here, which counts for something. At 95 in the world, she's also the higher-ranked player, so on paper this looks like her match to lose. But rankings and crowd support only go so far, and Charaeva has clearly been playing some of the best tennis of her life this week to reach a semi-final as the 125th-ranked player in the world.
I feel like this one goes the distance. Charaeva has shown enough this tournament to suggest she's not just making up the numbers, and a player in that kind of form on clay can be really difficult to close out over three sets. Parry is a solid clay-court mover but hasn't always been comfortable converting in tight moments and that could cost her here, all things considered.
Prediction: Charaeva in 3
