Naomi Osaka vs Elena Rybakina
Head-to-head: First meeting
These two have never met before, which feels surprising given how long both have been near the top of the game. Rybakina is the clear favorite here and it's hard to argue otherwise. Her serve is going to be a massive problem for Osaka, and on a fast hard court in Montreal the conditions only amplify that. Osaka can absolutely hurt you off the ground when she's timing the ball well, but Rybakina doesn't give you many second balls to attack and that takes away a lot of what makes Osaka dangerous.
That said, Rybakina has had some wobbles in the third set this year, and if Osaka can stay close through the first two sets the match gets interesting. I think Rybakina finds a way through, but it might not be straightforward.

Elina Svitolina vs Iga Swiatek
Head-to-head: Svitolina 3-4 Swiatek
This rivalry has been one of the more entertaining storylines on the WTA tour over the last few years, and Svitolina actually leads on hard courts, which often get overlooked in this discussion, in the head-to-head. Swiatek is ranked higher right now but she's been inconsistent in 2025, and this is exactly the kind of opponent who gives her problems. Svitolina defends everything, makes you earn every point and never panics when the match gets tight.
Swiatek's forehand can overpower almost anyone when it's clicking, but Svitolina has shown repeatedly that she doesn't get overrun the way most players do. Feel like this goes the distance, and in a tight third Svitolina's mental steadiness gives her the edge, all things considered.
