A few picks from the Canadian Open today, and it's a strong slate with some genuinely interesting matchups. We've got three predictions for you, so let's get into it.

Marta Kostyuk vs Iga Swiatek
Head-to-head: Kostyuk 1-3 Swiatek
Kostyuk's one win over Swiatek came on clay in Rome, so on hard courts this looks considerably tougher for her. Swiatek hasn't been at her absolute best in 2025 compared to the dominant stretches we saw in 2022 and 2023, but she's still more than good enough to handle Kostyuk on this surface and her ball-striking in the longer rallies gives her a clear edge here.
Kostyuk will compete hard and won't give anything away cheaply. That said, I think Swiatek takes this in three, with Kostyuk nicking a set somewhere along the way but never really threatening to close it out.

Jessica Pegula vs Diana Shnaider
Head-to-head: Pegula 4-0 Shnaider
Four from four is a pretty convincing head-to-head, and Pegula on home soil adds another layer. Shnaider has the power to hurt anyone on a given day, but she's never found an answer for Pegula in four tries, and there's no obvious reason that changes today. Pegula's consistency on hard courts, which has made her one of the most reliable names on this surface for years, makes her genuinely difficult to put away when you need to hit through her.
Prediction: Pegula in 2
Aryna Sabalenka vs Ekaterina Alexandrova
Head-to-head: Sabalenka 5-4 Alexandrova
That 5-4 head-to-head looks closer than this match probably will be. Alexandrova has taken Sabalenka to three sets before and she's solid enough on hard courts, but Sabalenka right now is playing some of the best tennis of her career and has become so good at not panicking when matches get tight. The serve and the forehand are both weapons that Alexandrova will struggle to neutralize for a full match.
Sabalenka should win this comfortably, all things considered.
