Three picks from the Bad Homburg qualifying final today, and there's a name worth paying attention to at the top of the card. Let's get into it.
WTA Bad Homburg Open Predictions
Naomi Osaka vs Magdalena Frech
Head-to-head: First meeting
Osaka is ranked 15th in the world but she's still having to come through qualifying, which tells you a lot about where her grass-court game is right now. Frech is a solid all-court player who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon last year, so this is no gimme on a surface that doesn't naturally suit either of them. Osaka's serve is always a factor on grass and she's been building some real momentum on the hard courts this season, but Frech's consistency from the baseline could drag this into a long third set.
I think Osaka gets through, but not cleanly.
Prediction: Osaka in 3
Solana Sierra vs Anna Blinkova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Sierra has had a quietly impressive 2025 and her ranking of 58 reflects genuine progress on tour, while Blinkova at 106 is coming in as the clear underdog here. Grass isn't the most natural surface for either, but Sierra's movement and baseline consistency should be enough to see this through, all things considered, even if Blinkova makes it uncomfortable for a set.
Prediction: Sierra in 3
Diane Parry vs Irina-Camelia Begu
Head-to-head: Parry 1-1 Begu
Begu is ranked 213th right now and at 33 she's well past the point where she's regularly troubling players inside the top 100. Parry at 60 is the better player on paper and the better player in form and the ranking gap here makes it hard to see this being competitive at all. That said, Begu is experienced enough to make this messy, and a split head-to-head means Parry knows she can't sleepwalk through it. Still, Parry comes through.
Prediction: Parry in 3
