One match to preview from the Bad Homburg Open qualifying today, and it's a decent one. Navarro against Lys on grass is an interesting draw, and the ranking gap might actually undersell how one-sided this could get.
WTA Bad Homburg Open Predictions
Eva Lys vs Emma Navarro
Head-to-head: First meeting
Lys is a grass-court specialist in the sense that she grew up playing on it in Germany, and Bad Homburg is basically her home tournament. That counts for something. But Navarro is genuinely one of the best grass-court players on tour right now, not just by ranking but by how she actually plays the surface. Her flat ball-striking and ability to finish points quickly suits fast conditions perfectly and she made the fourth round at Wimbledon last year before reaching the quarterfinals in 2024.
Lys has had some solid results this season but nothing that suggests she can handle a player of Navarro's level on this surface. Hard to see this being competitive at all. Navarro should still find a way to get through here, all things considered.
Prediction: Navarro in 2
