Jil Teichmann vs Petra Marcinko
Head-to-head: First meeting
On paper, Marcinko is the higher-ranked player by a wide margin and the obvious favorite here, but Teichmann's ranking is deeply misleading. She was a top-10 player not long ago and has been working her way back from injury and getting to a WTA semi-final suggests she's finding something close to her old level again. The Swiss lefty's heavy topspin and ability to construct points on clay are the kind of tools that don't disappear, and the slow conditions in Rabat should give her all the time she needs to set the pace.
Marcinko has had a solid week and reaching the semis at this level is no small thing, but hard to see this being competitive at all against a player with Teichmann's pedigree. That said, clay in this kind of heat tends to reward patience and consistency, and that's always been Teichmann's game.
