One semi-final pick from Nottingham today, and it's a decent one for grass-court fans. Navarro and Golubic both know how to play on this surface, so there's something real at stake here.
WTA Lexus Nottingham Open Predictions
Emma Navarro vs Viktorija Golubic
Head-to-head: Navarro 1-0 Golubic
Navarro's only win over Golubic came on hard courts, so the head-to-head doesn't tell us a whole lot for this one. What does matter is that Navarro has genuinely become a player to watch on grass, with her flat, low ball really suiting the surface and her composure under pressure making her tough to break down late in sets.
Golubic is no joke on this surface either. She's a former Nottingham finalist, a tournament she knows better than most, and someone who's beaten top-ten players on grass before and she won't be intimidated by the occasion. I think this is where the match gets interesting, because Golubic has the serve and net presence to disrupt Navarro's rhythm and drag her into a scrappy third set. That said, Navarro is the better player right now and the ranking gap is there for a reason. Navarro should still find a way to get through here, all things considered.
Prediction: Navarro in 3
