We've got one semi-final pick from the Citi Open in Washington today, with temperatures climbing toward 91°F under partially cloudy skies. Fritz and Nakashima are both American, so the crowd won't be much of a factor either way. Who takes it?

Head-to-head: Nakashima 1-3 Fritz
Fritz leads this rivalry 3-1 and has looked sharp all week, and the one win Nakashima does have came a while back, so it's hard to lean on it too heavily. Nakashima is a dangerous floater at this level and he plays a clean, flat game on hard courts, a surface that has consistently suited his game, that can trouble anyone on a good day, but Fritz is just the better player right now and has been for a while.
That said, Nakashima won't go quietly, and Fritz has a habit of making things tighter than they need to be. I think this goes three, Fritz steadies himself after dropping a close set and gets through, all things considered.
