Two Wimbledon semi-finals to dig into today, and both of them have something genuinely interesting going on. We've got our picks from a big day at the All England Club, so let's get into it.
WTA Wimbledon Predictions
Karolina Muchova vs Cori Gauff
Head-to-head: Muchova 1-6 Gauff
That head-to-head is brutal on paper, but it deserves some context. Gauff has built most of that lead on hard courts, and the one surface where Muchova's variety and touch really come alive is grass. Muchova's movement and her ability to change the pace of a rally mid-point make her a genuinely awkward opponent here in a way she isn't on other surfaces and Gauff has had moments this tournament where her serve has looked stoppable.
That said, Gauff is the higher-ranked player, she's been sharp all fortnight, and backing someone with a 1-6 record against their opponent in a Wimbledon semi is never comfortable. But I think the surface does enough to close the gap, and Muchova in three feels right.
Prediction: Muchova in 3
Marta Kostyuk vs Linda Noskova
Head-to-head: Kostyuk 1-0 Noskova
Not much to go on with the H2H, and both players reaching a Wimbledon semi is a surprise in its own right. Noskova's big serve and flat groundstrokes are well-suited to grass and she's clearly capable of beating anyone on a good day, but Kostyuk has shown real mental toughness this tournament and her defensive game, which has quietly been one of the stories of the fortnight, has been excellent under pressure.
Kostyuk should still find a way to get through here, though it should go the distance.
Prediction: Kostyuk in 3
