Head-to-head: First meeting
Mboko is ranked inside the top ten and has been one of the more impressive young players on clay this season, and getting to a semi-final in Strasbourg only adds to that. Cristian is no pushover though. The Romanian has been on tour long enough to know how to construct points on this surface and at rank 28 she's not someone you just walk through.
That said, the ranking gap here is real, and Mboko's game tends to hold up well when conditions are warm and the ball sits up a bit more, which should be the case today. First meetings can go either way, but I think the weight of Mboko's clay-court form this week carries her through, all things considered. It might not be straightforward though. Cristian has the experience to make it messy, and this feels like a three-setter.
