Fokina vs Moutet Prediction & More at Hamburg Open, H2H, Picks

We've got three first-round picks from the Hamburg Open today, with overcast skies, temperatures barely touching 55°F, and rain threatening to disrupt play all day. Slow, damp clay and those conditions could make things unpredictable, so let's get into it.

Hamburg Open Predictions

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Corentin Moutet

Head-to-head: Fokina 3-0 Moutet

Fokina has never dropped a set to Moutet across their three meetings, and Moutet is the kind of streaky, touch-dependent player who really struggles when the ball gets heavy in cold, wet conditions. The slow damp clay here takes away exactly what makes Moutet dangerous, his ability to change pace and manufacture angles, and gives Fokina all the time he needs to play his physical, grinding game.

That said, Moutet is a creative enough player that he can steal a set if things go sideways and I think the conditions make this more of a three-setter than the H2H might suggest. But Fokina should be fine here.

Prediction: Fokina in 3

Tommy Paul vs Ethan Quinn

Head-to-head: Paul 2-0 Quinn

Paul has beaten Quinn twice already, and the gap in experience at this level is pretty significant. Quinn is 48 in the world and still finding his feet on the clay, and Paul has enough variety in his game to handle the slick, wet conditions better than most Americans would.

Hard to see this being competitive at all, and Hamburg clay in cold weather is a leveller. Expect Quinn to make it to a third set, but Paul gets through.

Prediction: Paul in 3

Felix Auger Aliassime vs Vit Kopriva

Head-to-head: First meeting

Kopriva is a solid clay-court player who's had some decent results on the surface, but FAA at number 5 in the world is a completely different level. Aliassime has been playing some of his best tennis in 2024 and 2025, and he's become so good at staying composed when matches get physical and grinding. Cold, heavy Hamburg clay might slow things down, but it doesn't particularly favour Kopriva either.

Aliassime wins this, and the only real question is whether Kopriva can extend it to three sets, all things considered.

Prediction: Aliassime in 3
