Head-to-head: Bondar 0-4 Korpatsch
On paper, this one looks like a mismatch. Korpatsch has beaten Bondar all four times they've played, and she's the higher-ranked player coming into her home tournament final, a final she's clearly worked hard to reach, in front of a crowd that's been behind her all week. That kind of momentum is real, and she's earned this spot.
That said, Bondar has clearly been the better player this week regardless of what the rankings or H2H say, and finals are their own beast. The overcast conditions and slow clay should keep the rallies long and Bondar is the kind of player who gets better the longer a match goes. Four previous losses have a way of teaching you exactly what not to do, and I think she's figured enough of it out to finally get one back when it matters most, all things considered.
