We've got one semi-final pick from the WTA Parma Ladies Open today, and it's a genuinely interesting one, with the threat of rain hovering over the clay courts at around 50°F. Which of these two do you think gets through?
WTA Parma Ladies Open Predictions
Dayana Yastremska vs Jessica Bouzas Maneiro
Head-to-head: Yastremska 0-2 Bouzas Maneiro
The head-to-head is the obvious talking point here. Bouzas Maneiro has won both previous meetings, and neither of them were close enough to suggest Yastremska just ran into a bad day. That's a real pattern on clay, and the Spanish player's consistency in long rallies tends to make life very difficult for Yastremska, whose game is built more on pace and aggression than grinding points out.
That said, Yastremska has looked sharp this week and her flat, heavy ball can be a nightmare when she's finding her range. Cold, slow conditions with rain in the forecast could actually work against her here, dampening the ball and taking some bite off her groundstrokes. To make things worse, Bouzas Maneiro, who has looked entirely comfortable on this surface all week, is ranked just one spot below her and is fully capable of handling whatever the weather throws at them. I think Yastremska finally turns this one around, though not without dropping a set along the way, all things considered.
Prediction: Yastremska in 3
