Three picks from the qualifying final round at the Libema Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, where the grass is down and the main draw spots are almost within reach. Who do you think punches through today?
WTA Libema Open Predictions
Katie Volynets vs Lin Zhu
Head-to-head: First meeting
Volynets has had a decent year on hard courts but grass is a different conversation, and Lin Zhu tends to be the more comfortable mover on this surface. With the ranking gap not being enormous here, this one could easily go three sets, but I think Zhu finds a way to manage the variance and close it out, all things considered.
Prediction: Zhu in 3
Hanne Vandewinkel vs Anouk Koevermans
Head-to-head: Vandewinkel 1-0 Koevermans
Vandewinkel holds the ranking edge and the H2H lead, and as a Belgian player she's grown up on this kind of quick European surface. Koevermans will have the crowd behind her as the home player, and that counts for something in a tight match, but Vandewinkel should have enough to see it through. These two have met before, in what was a fairly routine result for Vandewinkel, so there are no real surprises waiting for either of them.
Prediction: Vandewinkel in 3
Ella Seidel vs Greetje Minnen
Head-to-head: Seidel 0-1 Minnen
This is the most interesting one of the three. Seidel is ranked higher and will be the favourite on paper, but Minnen already has a win over her and knows how to get the job done in qualifiers and on grass she's always been comfortable. To make things worse for Seidel, being the higher-ranked player in a qualifying final adds pressure, not comfort. Minnen takes it.
Prediction: Minnen in 3
