Just the one match to get into today in Munich qualifying, with overcast skies and a chilly 10°C making conditions pretty slow out there. Rinderknech and Michelsen have met three times before and it's always been one-way traffic, so let's see if that changes today.
BMW Open Predictions
Arthur Rinderknech vs Alex Michelsen
Head-to-head: Rinderknech 3-0 Michelsen
Three from three for the Frenchman, and that's a hard record to argue against coming into a clay qualifying match. Rinderknech has always matched up well against Michelsen's game, and the cold, heavy conditions in Munich today should keep the ball low and slow, which plays into Rinderknech's ability to grind and redirect rather than let Michelsen find his rhythm with the big forehand.
That said, Michelsen is ranked inside the top 40 for a reason and won't just hand this over. He's been a solid performer this season and at 21 he's only getting more comfortable on clay. Hard to see this going three sets, but Rinderknech's experience in these conditions, particularly on slow outdoor clay where his defensive game has always looked a level above, and that flawless H2H record should still find a way to get through here.
Prediction: Rinderknech in 3
