We've got a couple of qualifying matches from Rouen to dig into today, under partial cloud cover and warm conditions that should keep the clay playing nicely. Let's get into it.
WTA Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole Qualifying Predictions
Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah vs Jaqueline Cristian
Head-to-head: Rajaonah 1-0 Cristian
That H2H number is a bit misleading. Rajaonah holds the lead, but Cristian is ranked 100 spots higher and is a comfortable favorite here. The ranking gap between these two is about as wide as it gets in qualifying, and on clay Cristian has the kind of consistent baseline game that lower-ranked opponents tend to struggle to break down.
Rajaonah's win will give her some belief, but hard to see this being competitive at all given what separates these two on paper. That said, Cristian should be too solid on this surface and too experienced to let this slip.
Prediction: Cristian in 2
Oleksandra Oliynykova vs Lilli Tagger
Head-to-head: First meeting
This one's genuinely interesting. Oliynykova is the higher-ranked player at 71 in the world, but Tagger has been climbing steadily and at 117 she's no pushover. Oliynykova has had a patchy year and hasn't really put together a convincing run on clay in 2025, and on a surface that, if we're being honest, tends to expose any inconsistency more than most, that matters.
I think Tagger's game translates well to these slower conditions and she's got enough to take this the distance, all things considered. Going three sets feels right here.
Prediction: Tagger in 3
