Maria on grass is just a different player. She's built her entire career around the surface, reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2022, and her slice-heavy game becomes genuinely awkward to handle when the ball stays low and skids through. Tjen is ranked higher right now, but rankings on grass mean less than on any other surface and this feels like a very comfortable afternoon for Maria.

Zeynep Sonmez vs Hannah Klugman
Head-to-head: Sonmez 0-1 Klugman
Klugman is only 17 and ranked 511th, but she's already got a win over Sonmez on her record, and as a British wildcard playing at home on grass she's not someone to dismiss lightly. That said, Sonmez has the ranking and the experience, but grass qualifying has a way of producing results that make no sense on paper.
