On paper this looks like no contest at all. Kostyuk is ranked 27th in the world, Podrez is 209th, and that kind of gap usually tells the story by itself. But Podrez has clearly been playing the tennis of her life this week to reach her first WTA final, and clay is a surface that rewards feel and confidence as much as ranking points. She's earned the right to be here.
That said, Kostyuk is a real clay-court threat and the step up from whatever she's faced this week to a top-30 opponent is enormous. I feel like Kostyuk's consistency and experience in big matches, built up over several years on the tour, should be too much to handle for someone playing in their first final at this level. Still, if Podrez rode this week's momentum into the first set and grabbed it, all bets are off. Podrez in three.
