Joint comes in ranked 39 spots below Birrell, but rankings don't always tell the full story in a week like this and the French player has clearly been the more impressive performer through the draw. Birrell is a solid hardcourt player and reaching a final at this level is no small thing for her, but Joint has enough firepower from the baseline to keep this competitive and then some.
That said, finals are a different animal, and Birrell's experience and ranking suggest she won't just hand this over. I feel like this one goes the distance, with Joint finding a way through in the third, all things considered.
