We've got one pick from the Hamburg Open qualifying final today, with grey skies and temperatures barely touching 15°C making conditions about as miserable as clay gets. Should be an interesting one to watch play out.
Hamburg Open Qualifying Predictions
Rinky Hijikata vs Henri Squire
Head-to-head: First meeting
The ranking gap here is pretty stark. Squire is ranked 258th in the world and Hijikata is sitting at 891, and that's not the kind of gap you close in a single qualifying match on a surface that rewards consistency and experience. Squire has been building something real on clay over the last year or two and the slow, heavy conditions today, especially with rain in the air, should only drag things in his favor.
That said, Hijikata is a decent mover and won't hand it over cheaply and qualifying matches have a way of going three sets regardless of the talent difference. But Squire should have too much here, all things considered.
Prediction: Squire in 3
