The Cincinnati final is an all-American affair, and it's one of the best rivalries in women's tennis right now. We've got our pick for the big one.
WTA Cincinnati Open Predictions
Cori Gauff vs Jessica Pegula
Head-to-head: Gauff 4-5 Pegula
Nine meetings and Pegula leads by one, which tells you everything about how close this rivalry is. Pegula's been the more consistent player this season though, and on hard courts specifically she's been, arguably the toughest draw you can get in this format, nearly impossible to break down, keeping the ball deep and making opponents do something extraordinary to beat her.
Gauff obviously has the weapons to flip this at any moment and she won't be short of confidence reaching another Masters final. That said, Pegula's return game is tailor-made to neutralize Gauff's serve, and when these two play long rallies on hard courts, Pegula usually comes out on top. I feel like this one goes the distance, but Pegula's steadiness gets her over the line, all things considered.
Prediction: Pegula in 3
