We've got one pick from the Saint-Malo qualifying final today, under partially cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures around 20°C. Not the most high-profile match you'll ever see, but a qualifying spot is on the line and these things matter.
WTA Open 35 de Saint-Malo Predictions
Weronika Falkowska vs Amandine Monnot
Head-to-head: First meeting
Monnot is the higher-ranked player here at 325 in the world compared to Falkowska's 509, and on home soil on clay that gap feels bigger than the numbers suggest. French players on slow clay at home tournaments tend to be dangerous and Monnot will know this court and these conditions well. That's a real advantage in a one-off qualifying match where there's no margin for error.
Hard to see Falkowska having much of a chance here, and qualifying finals at this level can go anywhere, but I feel like Monnot's ranking advantage and home comfort, especially on a surface that rewards familiarity, are too much to overcome. Could easily go three sets though.
Prediction: Monnot in 3
